AUSTRALASIAN GRAND PRIX

LOUIS JOOSSENS (TWEEDSIDE TIGERS) had made a slow start to the series but won the Australasian Grand Prix to propel himself into the top 8 of the overall standings after this 3rd round of 8.  LAURENCE CHAMBERLAIN (LANARKSHIRE LIONS) similarly rose quickly up the standings after his best performance of the season, scoring more than he had in the previous 2 rounds combined.  Wild Card ALEKSANDER JELEN (ABERAVON GEMS) impressed hugely with 3rd place and his team-mate KENNI ALGREEN (ABERAVON GEMS) completed the Grand Final lineup, scoring 11 overall to retain his place at the top of the leaderboard, by a 4 point margin from RAFAL ARANOWSKI (READING REBELS) after the Polish rider reached the Semi Finals.

Other Semi Finalists were FILLIPPE CHONG (NECRONS) and ARNE KARLSEN (BIRMINGHAM BOURNVILLAINS) who both keep their places in the top 8 as a result of their solid displays.  Karlsen could have gone further but missed the 2 minutes in the Semi Final after suffering bike problems whilst already out on the track.  The last Semi Finalist was ENZO INNACONE (WARSAW WASPS), who added 8 points to his 6 from the previous rounds but the Italian is struggling to make an impact so far this season.  It wasn't a great day for RAY FRANCE (KING'S LYNN LIGHTNING) or Rhodri Szczygiel (CANVEY ISLAND CASTAWAYS), who both dropped down the overall standings a little but they do remain in the top 8 still.  JACK HAGEN (BUDAPEST BULLS), ERLING TROELSEN (LANARKSHIRE LIONS) and RICHIE SAMPSON (ABERAVON GEMS) weren't quite so lucky and fall out of the top 8 after this round but it's still very close and everyone still has all to ride for.
