EUROPEAN GRAND PRIX

ARNE KARLSEN (BIRMINGHAM BOURNVILLAINS) came back from injury with a tentative start but improved as the meeting went on, winning his last 5 rides to take the GP and push himself back up the overall leaderboard, to joint 4th which was the position he occupied before missing the last round.  FILLIPPE CHONG (NECRONS) and JACEK KLECHA (STOCKHOLM SCORPIONS) both recorded 12 point totals in finishing 2nd and 3rd in this round, Chong solidifying his position in the top 8 places after 5 of the 8 rounds.  The other Grand Finalist here was RAFAL ARANOWSKI (READING REBELS) and his 13 points move him up to 2nd, just 9 points off the series leader, as the riders ahead of him produced fairly average rounds by their standards.

RICHIE SAMPSON (ABERAVON GEMS) and ENZO INNACONE (WARSAW WASPS) both scored 11 as they reached the Semi Final stage, moving up the leaderboard but not quite enough to crack the top 8 places which guarantee automatic qualification for next season's GPs, although Sampson is just 2 points adrift.  The other Semi Finalists were PETR MARKO (BOTTESFORD BULLETS) and RAY FRANCE (KING'S LYNN LIGHTNING) - France drops from 2nd to 3rd overall but actually narrowed the gap to the series leader by a point down to 11 with 3 rounds remaining.  Series leader before the meeting, and still 9 points clear, KENNI ALGREEN (ABERAVON GEMS) picked up 7 points and there were steady, if unspectacular, returns for LAURENCE CHAMBERLAIN (LANARKSHIRE LIONS), RHODRI SZCZYGIEL (CANVEY ISLANDS CASTAWAYS) and LOUIS JOOSSENS (TWEEDSIDE TIGERS) to help them retain their places in the top 8 overall.
