ARNE KARLSEN (BIRMINGHAM BOURNVILLAINS) won the opening GP round of the season to take an early lead in the 8 round series. It was some day for Wales with RICHIE SAMPSON
(ABERAVON GEMS) and RHODRI SZCZYGIEL (CANVEY ISLAND CASTAWAYS) also reaching the Grand Final. They finished 2nd and 4th respectively, both making double figure returns, with
ERLING TROELSEN (LANARKSHIRE LIONS) splitting the pair to finish 3rd in the round.

Two other riders scored double figures from this meeting - RAFAL ARANOWSKI (READING REBELS) in flying form until a fall in his Semi Final stopped his scoring on 13 points and KENNI
ALGREEN (ABERAVON GEMS) finished with 12. Defending World Champion RAY FRANCE (KING'S LYNN LIGHTNING) and Wild Card for the round MANUEL MARTIN (ZAGREB ZEBRAS) were the other
semi finalists. France's 9 point score is a solid start and he ended better than the trio of riders who finished behind him in last year's standings as Marko, Chong and Hagen
couldn't manage better than 7 points between them. The first round is always about riders putting a marker down and finding their feet before the series takes shape so that fact
that Klecha in 15th place still scored 5 points could point to a thriller of a series in store for us this season?!
