SWEDISH GRAND PRIX

After missing the 2-minute time allowance in his first ride LOUIS JOOSSENS (TWEEDSIDE TIGERS) was virtually unstoppable as he blasted to success in the Swedish Grand Prix.  Just as importantly for him, his 17-point haul sees his jump from joint 10th place into the top 8 with just one round remaining.  It was also a good round in terms of avoiding the GP Challenge meeting for PETR MARKO (BOTTESFORD BULLETS) as he racked up 16 points in coming 2nd in the round.  The other Grand Finalists were the riders who started in 2nd and 3rd and as a result of their good performances RAFAL ARANOWSKI (READING REBELS) and ARNE KARLSEN (BIRMINGHAM BOURNVILLAINS) have increased their chances of a rostrum finish with just one round to go.

RAY FRANCE (KING'S LYNN LIGHTNING) picked up a double figure return in reaching the Semi Finals and he goes into the final round just 4 points outside the top 3 so with a rostrum finish still very much in reach.  KENNI ALGREEN (ABERAVON GEMS) came into the round 18 points clear and rode a very steady meeting to pick up 10 more points.  The final result is that he goes to the last GP in Poland still 15 points ahead and knowing he needs no more than 7 points to be crowned as World Champion.  The other Semi Finalists were RICHIE SAMPSON (ABERAVON GEMS), who keeps open an outside chance of avoiding the GP Challenge but has an 8 point gap to make up to 8th place overall, and BOYD BEATON (READING REBELS).  It wasn't the best of rounds for LAURENCE CHAMBERLAIN (LANARKSHIRE LIONS) whose 3 points see him fall to 5th overall and a rostrum finish now looking unlikely.  FILLIPPE CHONG (NECRONS) remains in 8th place overall, 7 points meaning he has a 6 point gap to defend going into the last round.  His main threat for that top 8 spot will be RHODRI SZCZYGIEL (CANVEY ISLAND CASTAWAYS), who dropped from 7th to 9th after picking up just 5 points in this round and will be needing a strong finish if he's to avoid the GP Challenge.
